Fort Worth wedding venue Brooks at Weatherford property and white chapel

One of my favorite Fort Worth wedding venues that I just had to feature in this blog series is the Brooks at Weatherford, and I loved getting to learn more of its unique backstory and everything this Fort Worth wedding venue has to offer.

The Brooks at Weatherford is a rustic wedding venue located in Weatherford, TX that is located just 30 minutes from downtown Fort Worth, and only minutes from the historic downtown of Weatherford.  The Brooks at Weatherford’s tree lined entrance opens up to a scenic 21-acre farm estate with a quiet rock bordered brook, that cascades along the land’s natural terrace and into the pond between the chapel and reception venue. It is the perfect fit for the couple that is looking for a unique and versatile rustic or southern wedding venue!

THE BROOKS AT WEATHERFORD EVENT VENUE

As you walk through the travel stone and crushed granite paths to the Cedar Trunk Pergola entrance and it’s tall Persian entry doors you immediately enter the grand room.  The ornate wood columns, tall ceilings, corrugated metal, and 12-ft rock walk around the fireplace will seriously leave you breathless! The Brooks at Weatherford’s large interior allows for much variety in the floor plan and can hold up to 250 guests with a dance floor, but it is also perfect for smaller weddings of 100 or less.  On the outside of the building, there is a covered patio that has a large stone fireplace which many guests use for the cocktail hour or even for the photo booth.  I have to say though that one of my favorite aspects about this venue is that the event venue and chapel offer open air or climate controlled options, which allows for tons of gorgeous light, easy flow from one space to another, and a plan in case of rain (My personal favorite!! lol).

THE BROOKS AT WEATHERFORD - BRIDE & GROOM SUITE

The Brooks at Weatherford has not only a bride's suite but also groom’s suite! The bride’s suite has plenty of seating and mirrors so the bride and her bridal party can get ready at the venue, and allows for some gorgeous getting ready photos the day of.   The groom’s suite has a TV and leather sofas for the groom and the groomsmen to play video games or just hang out the morning of the wedding.

THE BROOKS AT WEATHERFORD COUNTRY CHAPEL

As you walk outside, there is a direct pathway to the Brooks at Weatherford’s Country Chapel, which is one of the most beautiful rustic ceremony options you have ever seen 😊  Stained glass windows, rustic gables, teak wood doors, and an 18-foot steeple make up the chapel’s white exterior.  As you walk through the chapel’s wood doors, your breath honestly gets taken away by its beauty.  It is every rustic or southern bride’s dream! The timber trusses, rustic chandeliers, antique church pews, open air walls, AND large arched windows make it a ceremony that will surely leave your guests in aw!

THE BROOKS AT WEATHERFORD - INTERVIEW

Shannon Rose Events: “How did you get started?”

The Brooks at Weatherford: “Following the desire of our hearts to live closer to children and grandchildren meant closing the doors of our long time San Antonio based business, Steve Heflin Architect/Builder, and moving to the Ft Worth area. We began dreaming, planning and praying for a business venture we could do together, one that would meld our talents in design, construction, decorating and hospitality. Perhaps it was our 35 years of marriage and a bit of divine direction that sparked the idea of creating a wedding/event venue with unique style and beauty. Searching the Ft. Worth countryside led us to a 21 acre farm just outside Historic Weatherford, Tx. This estate encompasses a 115 year old Farm House, Guest House, beautiful trees, natural springs and pasture land. Pouring the same expertise and attention to detail Steve used in designing beautiful custom homes, we began collecting architectural elements such as 300+ year old doors, gables, mirrors, tables, rustic wagons, gates, and benches from Texas and Santa Fe to be used in both a Country Chapel and Event Center. And So, the adventure begins! …Land purchased, Move made, plans drawn, the road in, construction started… One step at a time, this new place called The Brooks at Weatherford becomes reality.”

Shannon Rose Events: “Tell me about one of your favorite weddings?”

The Brooks at Weatherford: “It's hard to peg a wedding as a favorite or even one of our favorites, as each Wedding Day is so beautiful. Each couple celebrating their love story is my favorite thing about each of the weddings here at The Brooks! We've seen everything from fun, umbrella clad Bridal Processions on rainy day weddings, to caricatures artists, serenaded cocktail hours, helicopter send-offs, roaming 'beer' donkeys , incredible fireworks, mariachi bands, bag-pipe players and guest appearances by the TCU Horny Toad Mascot! So, yes, difficult to peg ONE as the favorite!

I do hold dear the story of our very first couple to marry at The Brooks: Matt and Jen Jones. Wedding date: October 25, 2014. This sweet and beautiful couple came to visit us when The Brooks at Weatherford was very much under construction... literally dirt slabs and framework! In those days, we met with couples at our home's office, our 120 yr old Farm House. Together, we would look over the architectural renderings and floor plans, then would hop in my car and drive down the hill to walk the construction site.

Matt and Jen were delighted with everything! After the tour, they both agreed, "We want to get married here!" ... Great!! "Do you have October 25 available?" Oh no! We will not be finished until November. We have our first wedding set for November 7 and so it would have to be after that. Their hearts were set on October 25 and so, sadly, I said we could not promise that date and risk not being finished for their wedding. I sent them away, with "No" as the answer. When I related the story of their visit to my husband, (the architect and builder) He responded, "I think we could've done that." I, on the other hand, was not willing to risk it. It was their WEDDING DAY!!!!

Two weeks later, the groom to be(Matt) calls me saying, "I just have to ask, Is there any possible way we can make this happen? We've tried, but Jen can't see herself anywhere but there!?"

Now I am not a 'visionary', which in my mind means 'one who can see things before they exist. My husband is the visionary. Apparently, Jen was too! She had her Wedding Day vision, and it was of she and Matt and their Wedding on a crisp, beautiful October day at the newly finished Brooks at Weatherford!

My husband said, "YES!" And so was made, our heart-pounding decision to up the finish date, and October 25 became the must meet goal! Every time Jen and planner, Tracey Shellum would come out for a site visit, I thought Jen would be nervous that we still appeared extremely 'unfinished' or a bit behind schedule. But nope, she was always solid in her dream and more excited with every visit! I remember the day the grass and all the landscaping was finished; I sat on the steps of the Bride path and let the grateful tears just flow! It was all so beautiful! I say, we finished about October 24 and 1/2 ;-) and when Matt and Jen arrived on their October 25 day, they were overjoyed!

We still use their wedding photos on our ad post card and we still marvel at how God helped us (and we have many stories of how HE did! ) have everything finished and ready for this precious couple. An unsolicited plug for this groom and a great local restaurant: Matt's stage name is Song Bird Jones, and he can be heard singing throughout the DFW area++ and on the 2nd Thursday of each month, at The Fire Oak Grill in Weatherford! (Texas)”

Shannon Rose Events: “What is one interesting fact about the Brooks at Weatherford?”

The Brooks at Weatherford: “An interesting fact about The Brooks at Weatherford is that while the Old World Chapel is itself new, it is designed to look old and its 100yr old doors, gables and interior accents authenticate the look! Steve used antique doors and relics as well in the reception venue, affording both facilities a great Old World look. The idea for the flowing brook and parallel bride path, originated from the 21-acre property's existing antiquated rock weir irrigation system. Old to new; Beautifully! Visitors remark that the setting is breathtaking...that the property looks as though it was created precisely for thie event venue! Perfect match!”

Shannon Rose Events: “What makes the Brooks at Weatherford unique?”

The Brooks at Weatherford: “The word most often uttered when people walk into the Brook's Chapel or Reception Venue is, "Wow!" One unique feature at The Brooks is the open-air chapel and open-air capability of the reception venue. That dreamy outdoor ceremony feel, is acheived in the chapel, without total exposure to the elements. With roof overhead, AC(or heat when needed) fans going, and capitalizing on the breeze blowing through the open aired sides, it is surprisingly comfortable in the chapel even during the hottest summer months. In the cooler Spring and Fall months curtain walls can be lifted in the reception venue as well, bringing the 'outdoors in, for an even more unique and beautiful, park-like atmosphere.”
