Upon the initial virtual meeting with Shelbi and her mom it was evident that Shelbi had a distinct vision for her wedding day. While she leaned towards a classic theme, I was adamant about infusing her and her fiancé's personal style & hobbies into the design to make an event that was a true reflection of them as a couple. As I got to know Shelbi I learned they shared a love for fishing hunting, and the great outdoors & I was inspired to craft an event that seamlessly blended their personal style with a touch of rustic elegance.
As I dove deeper into her preferences, it was clear that Shelby's traditional style was a significant factor that needed to be woven into the fabric of the event. Despite my usual penchant for vibrant colors, I opted for a more subdued palette of dusty pink and muted tones to honor Shelby's timeless aesthetic and seamlessly blend her personal touch with the essence of the venue.

Rest Yourself River Ranch Wedding
Dallas Tented Wedding | Reception
As I embarked on the design process, my focus was on seamlessly blending the client's love of flowers with classical elements while staying true to the venue's landscaping and exterior. Consequently, we decided to place a clear tent in the center courtyard of Rest Yourself Ranch, adorned with mesmerizing lights that captivated guests as night fell. Opting for beaded chandeliers instead of a traditional crystal chandeliers & taupe draping vs. white helped us strike the perfect balance between rustic charm and elegant style.
Our goal was to create a tent that left a lasting impression. The focal point upon entering was a head table adorned with King Louis chairs and subtle Paisley Ivory linen, adding a soft rustic touch while honoring Shelbi's classic preferences.
Dallas Tented Wedding | Bar & Cake
The white dance floor at the center of the tent set the stage for joyful dances, while a champagne velvet seating area adjacent to it beautifully framed the cake and back bar.
Understanding the significance of the cake to the client, who emphasized its importance as a design centerpiece and the guests' love for drinks, we ensured that both the cake and the bar took center stage. It was essential for me to showcase these elements prominently, highlighting their allure and ensuring they stood out as key features of the design.
One of the many personal features we added to the design, was including Shelbi’s grandfather’s duck decoy on the bar next to the bar sign. It was a sweet touch to one of Shelbi’s favorite family heirlooms.
When it was time for toasts, we aimed to add a touch of uniqueness that resonated with the couple's personalities. Each guest was presented with gold shot glasses designed to resemble shotgun shells, paying homage to the couple's shared love of tequila and hunting.
Dallas Tented Wedding | Seating Chart
One standout feature of the event was the fishing-themed seating chart designed especially for the couple. In celebration of their shared love for fishing, I was inspired to incorporate this passion into the design through the seating chart. As a result, we brought in a boat filled with ice, where each guest could find their escort card attached to their favorite drink. For instance, guests who preferred Coors Light received a Coors Light, while others who enjoyed root beer were treated to their favorite beverage. This personalized and enjoyable touch added a unique and fun element to the celebration.
