As we are gearing up for the next issue of Brides of North Texas coming out next week, we couldn’t help but reminisce about our table top feature in the Brides of North Texas Spring/Summer issue that came out in January, which you can see here!  It is honestly one of my favorite shoots ever, and I still drool over the pictures from Trisha Kay Photography.

    I wanted to plan a shoot that truly featured everything I find beautiful, and that inspires me on a daily basis.  I found myself being drawn to dusty hues, glass, concrete, and soft materials.   When I began to think about how to bring all the elements together, I realized they had both industrial and southern themes, and the Southern Industrial Styled Shoot was born!  I think my architecture background is where I began to love industrial design, and I guess I have always loved the tradition of Southern weddings, I mean come on I am from Texas!! And I love using personal touches throughout a space.  There is something about a southern wedding that is romantic, classic, and also extremely personal!

BRIK VENUE STYLED SHOOT - CHOOSING THE VENUE

     When deciding on the venue for the Brides of North Texas styled shoot, I wanted to find an industrial space that was also light and airy.  Brik Venue in Fort Worth TX ended up being the perfect wedding venue for the shoot.  I loved the white brick walls and windows that can be seen throughout the venue.  I think it honestly brought the shoot to life and the venue allowed the table design to almost “pop”.

   When it came to the overall design of the styled shoot, I want to create the perfect mix of southern and industrial elements. We used an acrylic table, dusty blue upholstered chairs, ghost chairs, dusty blue and clear china, and vintage silver silverware.  Each place setting had an acrylic name card with a white wax seal at the top.  The center of the table was decorated with white candles in glass candle holders, lush white florals in a concrete vase, and a dusty blue table runner.  It was truly jaw dropping and created a modern, but also classic setting.

        The biscuit bar was a fun addition to the styled shoot and added what would be the perfect southern treat for guests. How fun would this be for an actual wedding!?! I know in Texas guests would LOVE this idea! It was placed on a classic white wood bar with acrylic signage, and the biscuits were placed on an acrylic stand with little bowls for butter, honey, and gravy.

   Overall I am so excited about this shoot and think it is the perfect inspiration for any southern bride looking for something a little unique!
